Curved acoustic wall-panel replacement using laminated board and precision acoustic CNC drilling. Thousands of consistent 9 mm holes were CNC-drilled across the decorative wood surface, while kerf slits were machined into the back to provide the flexibility needed to form the panel’s smooth curve. This project demonstrates our local manufacturing capabilities in CNC drilling, curved laminated components and custom replacement panels.
The perforations allow sound waves to pass through the decorative surface and reach an acoustic backing or air cavity, where sound energy can be absorbed instead of reflected into the room. As a reference, a tested commercial drilled-panel system using 6–8 mm holes and acoustic backing achieved an NRC of 0.70, meaning approximately 70% average sound absorption across the standard NRC frequency bands—not a 70% reduction in sound level. The actual performance of this 9 mm panel depends on its perforation ratio, thickness, air-cavity depth and backing material, and requires laboratory testing for a certified rating.
